Origins
I was raised in Tallassee, Alabama, lovingly referred to by its inhabitants as "The Treasure on the Tallaspoosa." Once the location of the Creek Indian capital city, Tuckabatchee, Tallassee is steeped in deep Native American history. Centered around an 1800s period mill that produced carbines, textiles and rations for the Confederate Army during the Civil War, hard work and sacrifice in support of family and the community can be seen generations later as many of the original families of my small town are deeply routed there still today.
I was raised as an only child in a Christian household by a mother who works as a nurse at the Community Hospital and a father who works as an administrator in the Tallassee City school system. Growing up alongside a large family on both my mother and father's side has shown me the importance of loyalty, love, respect and service. These life lessons were reinforced by my second family at First United Methodist Church in Tallassee, where I learned the value of friendship and community.
I moved to Auburn in the fall of 2013 to begin my freshman year and have since shared amazing experiences with life-long friends that I will cherish forever. As graduation approaches, I begin to realize how much I will miss The Loveliest Village on the Plains, but I am excited at the prospect of applying years of determination and hard work toward a rewarding career.
